In an era where violence against women is on the rise, The Club and IWCSR, a bunch of energetic youth under the expert guidance of Dr Vidhya Ramaswamy organized an International seminar on violence against women to create awareness among the people from all walks of life.
Dr Vidhya Ramaswamy, chairperson of INCITE, an active organizer in many social issues, especially on women’s welfare, formed a body of INCITE, IWCSR (International Women Consortium for Social Renaissance).
As a place of social gatherings INCITE has chosen Shangumugam beach as a beacon for the talents of Mr. Deepak Mouthattil to portray violence against women on the golden sands of Shangumugham on Sunday, the 6th of October 2013 at 5.30pm. This event was followed by a walk and candle light vigil by the youth members of ‘the Club’ and IWCSR’.
The Golden sands of Shangumugham is to bear witness to a gathering of similar young minds for the common cause. The walk is conducted to encourage public participation in a symbolic protest against violence happening to women nationwide. The program concluded by a candle light vigil to spread light onto this issue.
‘A picture is worth a thousand words’. “Xpressions”, an ideology inculcated by the artists portraying violence against women on their canvases in front of the secretariat on the 7th of October 2013, from 10 am to 1 pm.
